Court of Dearthington No 103 - Consecration

dearthingtonSaturday 11th October 2014 was the chosen date for the consecration of the Court of Dearthington No. 103. This is the ninth and latest Court to be formed in the Province of Lindsey, which next year will see the tenth and final Court joining the Province.

The Court is established at the Masonic Hall, Archer Street, Darlington, which is an excellent base, the building being in an easily accessible position, with ample car parking and is beautifully decorated.

Dearthington has proved to be a very popular Court, made up of 26 'unique' members, plus 15 members of other existing Courts. Most of the Officers of the Court being made up of 'unique' members. W. Bro. Steven Duffy was installed as the first Master, which must be a huge source of pride for any Brother.

With special dispensation from our Grand Master, M.W.Bro. Paul Weldon Johnston, PGHCh., GCSM, Ass.G.M., R.W. Bro. Dr. Christopher Ansell, GCh., GCSM., and Prov. G. M. R.W.Bro. Ray Dinning, GCSM., had agreed to use this opportunity to instruct the Court founders using the proposed new version of the ritual, the MW Grand Master, the RW Asst Grand Master and W&EmBro Mervyn Western taking the leading parts. It was a great credit to all the officers involved that, despite the short time available to memorise the new ritual, it was presented in a very professional way.

Special mention must be made of Dep. P.G.M., V.W.Bro. Bill Carlyon, KSM, PGSwdB. who took the position of Consecrating Officer, and who delivered a faultless rendition of the Consecration ritual.

The Oration was given by W&Em. Bro. Mervyn Western, KSM, giving a detailed history of Darlington, including a very interesting description of some of the good, and also bad events in Darlington's' past. The town has gone through some very eventful periods during its existence.

Prov.G.M., R.W.Bro. Ray Dinning, GCSM subsequently wrote to all who attended, expressing his appreciation to all who were involved in the ceremony, the visitors from all parts of the country who made the effort to be present, and to express his great pride at being PGM of the Province of Lindsey.
