Installation meeting of The Court of Beoferlic No. 59

Beoferlic 100714Thursday 10th July 2014  was the annual installation meeting of The Court of Beoferlic No. 59, in the Province of Lindsey.

Following a well rehearsed, excellent ceremony, Bro. Leslie Roy Jones was installed as the new Master of the Court, after which he was delighted to invest his Officers for the forthcoming year.

V. W. Bro. Tony Burke KSM, then presented Grand Court Certificates to three recently instructed members with his usual expertise, mixed with a good deal of humour. Tony’s explanation of the certificates was very polished and well delivered.

A very interesting and professional talk was then given by Bro. Michael Ogram giving a very detailed explanation of the original meanings of the names of local villages and points of interest in and around Beverley.

The Brethren then retired to the dining room for a very well presented and excellent meal, during which Bro. Eddie Wildman, unobtrusively ‘doodled’ an excellent likeness of me on the paper table covering….needless to say, on my leaving the Court, a large piece of the table covering left with me. It’s now framed and hanging on my office wall.

At the Witan, it was announced that the Court currently has a further eight candidates waiting to be instructed, a very healthy position for any Court to be in, and a good indication of how friendly and welcoming the members of this Court are.

Thank you Bro. Eddie for your ‘cartoon’ of me, and a very big thank you also, to the members of the Court for a very enjoyable evening.

Bro M Herbert
