Provincial Grand Court of Lindsey 2014

The beautiful Castle Grove Masonic Hall, Leeds, was this year's venue for the 8th Annual Provincial Grand Court of Lindsey held on Saturday 22nd November 2014.

The Court was opened promptly at 11.00 am by The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, RWBro. Raymond Dinning GCSM. The Provincial Grand Master then received and welcomed The Assistant Grand Master, RWBro. Dr. Christopher Ansell GCSM, and the Past Dept. GM, RWBro. David Buxton, GCSM.

Following his welcome address, The PGM proceeded with apologies and correspondence, confirmation of the minutes from the previous Provincial Grand Meeting, a roll call of Provincial Officers and Courts, plus other Provincial Court business. The PGM then appointed and invested the Provincial Grand Officers for the ensuing year.

The PGM then gave an entertaining and informative address to the Court, observing that every Court in the Province was represented at the meeting. The Provincial Grand Court was then closed, and everyone retired to the festive board.

An excellent meal was provided, well prepared and presented, of generous portions, and expertly served by the dining room staff.

Special thanks must be given to the organising team of this event for their attention to detail and wonderfully smooth running meeting.

One of the Officers appointed this year was WBro. Ken Watson, who was appointed to the position of Grand Sword Bearer.

Ken is also Secretary of The Court of the East and West, No. 67, and is reputed to be the oldest Treasurer in the Province. Because of his 'advanced years', the members of the Court, fearing that Ken may have problems with the weight of the official sword, requested that the PGM present him with a smaller, plastic, 'lightweight' version......we are unable to print Ken's reply when asked for his opinion of the 'new' Provincial Sword!

As reported by the PGM, the Province of Lindsey is proving to be very successful, having opened its ninth Court in 2014, with plans well advanced for the opening of the 10th and final Court next year.

The PGM, Officers and Brethren of the Province of Lindsey would like to take this opportunity to wish every member of The Masonic Order of Athelstan a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful 2015.
