54 Jan2015 01Maers-Ea Court No. 54 was opened punctually at 12 noon on Saturday 31st January 2015, the main business of the day being the Installation of a new Master.

Following the entrance and very warm welcome given to the Deputy Prov. Grand Master, VWBro. Edward Casey KSM, Bro. John Barnes was installed as Master of the Court.

W&EmBro. John Roberts then gave a short but very interesting talk entitled ‘The Lodge’.

The Brethren then transferred to the dining room to sample a very tasty meal of fish, chips and ‘mushy’ peas.

EW Jan2015 01The 15th Regular Meeting of The Court of the East and West No. 67 took place at the Court’s new home at Gateshead on Monday 26th January 2015.

The Court was very well attended by members and visitors, but because of business commitments by the candidates (father and son, and both farmers) they were unable to attend.

However, as the new ritual books had been delivered that day, and the Grand Marshal, VWBro. John Watts, KSM was present, it proved an ideal opportunity to have a ‘practice run’ with the new ritual, which was generally agreed to be a welcome improvement!

Three Grand Lodge Certificates were then presented and explained by VWBro. Bill Carlyon KSM, DepProvGM.

Following the closure of the Court, the Brethren retired to The Orchid Chinese Restaurant on the Quayside at Newcastle for an excellent meal.

athelstaninsigniaIn view of the celebrations which are planned for our 10th Anniversary the Most Worshipful Grand Master wishes to hold the 2015 Annual Assembly at the Conference Centre, Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Heathrow on Saturday 7th November 2015 to combine this with the other events taking place that weekend.

This will be followed by the Re-dedication Service at All Saints Church, Kingston Upon Thames for which transport will be arranged between the two venues, details of which have already been issued by the Cyningstun 10-90 Committee together with booking arrangements for accommodation.

This will be a truly special event in celebration of our Order which I am sure will become a treasured memory by all those who attend.

The Oder of the Scarlet Mantle will hold the annual investiture meeting at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel on the evening of Friday 6th November.

I must stress that this is a special departure from our usual date and venue which will resume next year.

Clive Kingsley SmithIt is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of V. W. Bro. Clive Kingsley-Smith, Past Grand Sword Bearer, Knight Commander of the Scarlet Mantle, on Monday 19th January, 2015. Clive was a member of High Cross Court and one of the very first members of the Order of Athelstan, joining in March 2006. He was also a Director of Central Regalia. As many were aware, Clive had been fighting illness for many years.

Clive's funeral was held on Thursday 5 February 2015 at St Catherine's Church, Burbage and was very well attended by family and friends.

Beoferlic59 Dec2014 01

The brethren arrived at Beverley Masonic Hall on Thursday 11th December 2014, to the sound of Christmas Carols being sung with great enthusiasm, echoing around the halls and corridors. The 'angelic' vocals were courtesy of the members of The Court of Beoferlic No. 59, and conducted by VWBro. Tony Burke KCSM, who gave us several wonderful renditions of some very popular carols.
